Italy is a country precursor of world's politic. I don't know the true reasones, I think because my Country has 2,000 years of history, Rome has been a Repubblic before to be an Empire. In 19-11-1922 National Fascist Party (PNF) makes the "March on Rome". They takes the power, thanks to people as Gabriele d'Annunzio and many 'italian high culture'and the goodthink of italian industry. We knows the history repeats. I have always found Italian politics totally baffling! They seem to change with the wind!
I was very surprised whilst travelling through small villages in Northern Italy during the late 1970s to see a lot of graffiti praising Mussolini, which had remained since WW2. I was expecting that all such traces would be eradicated but it seems people were not ashamed to see his image? I guess for some people the benefits his regime brought them outweighed the terrible things his party did and their association with the Nazis.
I had not heard of V-day before. Vaffanculo means fuck off, right? My Italian is not very good but I think I understand enough of what is going on. It is healthy for people to protest and great to see the 'net playing a part in that.
